In the sertão, a desert region in northern Brazil, the vengeful spirit of a bandit of honor prowls. Died in 1938, Lampião took justice into his own hands in a territory exacerbated by agrarian conflicts.
Following in his footsteps, we meet the men and women who rebel against the established order and claim to be his heirs today. By brandishing the memory of this popular hero, they resist the attempt of Jair Bolsonaro, ultraconservative president, to resurrect the fascist demons of Brazil.
No Man is Born to be Trampled is a 35-minute photographic and sound design documentary. A choral and poetic film, bordering on the mystical, it explores the subversive power of a ghost and proposes a sensitive experience through a journey into the Brazilian popular memory.
