The day after her 40th birthday, Anna comes to the conclusion that the madness has to stop. Once an adventurous jet setter and carefree bohemian, she now lives in her friend’s garage with a stalled career. And if that wasn’t bad enough, it’s been ten years since she’s been in a relationship.

She’s stuck and quickly losing hope in life : something has to change ! And it does when
she meets Katia : the art school’s wunderkind. Anna devises a plan to make her long held dreams come true : make a film, find love, and lose 40 pounds …

    A LA REALISATION

    Née à Miami dans une famille d’origine cubaine, Anna Margarita ALBELO a fait ses études à universitaires en Floride, avant de partir pour l’Europe où, grâce à une bourse, elle complète son cursus par une école de cinéma à Londres. Depuis 1993, elle vit et elle travaille à Paris. Réalisatrice, vidéaste, journaliste, elle mêle avec humour les domaines de la narration, de l’expérimentation, du documentaire et du clip. Son travail de cinéaste est déjà remarqué, il a été montré et récompensé dans une trentaine de festivals dans le monde.
    Anna collabore régulièrement à Canal Plus en France : elle a écrit et mis en scène trois documentaires originaux (dont Week-end à Palm Spring, célébré dans de nombreux festivals), et un court-métrage de fiction, « La Dinde » - avec la chanteuse SHEILA (Local Films, 2008).
    Avec le projet The Papaya Factory, Anna a participé au programme « All Access » du festival de Tribeca, à New York, qui soutient le développement de projets de long-métrages de fiction indépendants issus des minorités.
    En 2014 sors son premier long-métrage "Qui a peur de Vagina Wolf ?" sélectionné et récompensé dans de nombreux festivals.

    Born in Miami in a Cuban family, Ana Margarita Albelo studied at an Amercian university in Florida before leaving for Europe. She obtained a scholarship to attend a film school in London. Since 1993, she lives and works in Paris.
    Anna is a film and video-maker and a journalism. Her work blends with humor different styles such a classical narration, experimental films, documentary, and video clip. Her films have been shown and nominated in more than 30 festivals worldwide.
    Anna works regularly with Canal+, she wrote and directed three original documentaries, such as "Weekend in Palm Springs", celebrated in several films, and the short fiction film "the turkey" starring the French singer "Sheila".
    With "Papaya factory" script, Anna took part of "All access" progrm from Tribeca's Festival in New York City, which supports independent filmmakers to develop feature films projects.
    In 2014, "Who's afraid of Vagina Wolf?" her first feature film is released.
