Julien Donada

Né à Antibes. Julien Donada est cinéaste et photographe. Le point commun entre ses films de fictions ses documentaires et la photographie : l’architecture, l’urbanisme et donc la ville.
L’espace urbain est un grand terrain de jeu, documentaire, photographique et fictionnel :
C’est autour d’une personnalité magnétique de comédien, celle de Daniel Duval, que se construit Beau rivage son premier long métrage. Toujours soucieux de filmer les architectures de façon singulière, Donada pose un cadre étouffant, catalysant les obsessions de son personnage, qui s’invente de toutes pièces un passé. La résurgence d’un temps révolu, c’était du reste un motif résurgent de plusieurs des films courts du réalisateur. (Hôtel Provençal, été 76, (2007), A San Rémo (2003) etc..

Parmi les films réalisés on notera le LM : « Beau Rivage " (2011), et plusieurs documentaires souvent personnels : « Un sol brûlant sous nos pas » (2022) "Divine Victorine" (2019) mais aussi "La folle histoire du Centre Pompidou" (2017), l’étrange histoire d’une expérience urbaine (2016), la maison Unal (2014) etc…

Urban space is a great playground, documentary, photographic and fictional:
It is around the magnetic personality of an actor, that of Daniel Duval, that Beau Rivage is built in his first feature film. Always anxious to film architectures in a singular way, Donada creates a suffocating frame, catalyzing the obsessions of his character, who invents a past from scratch. The resurgence of a bygone era was, moreover, a resurgent motif of several of the director's short films. (Hôtel Provençal, summer 76, (2007), A San Rémo (2003) etc.
