local films was founded by Nicolas Brevière in Paris in 1997. The company has produced around 50 films which have been selected and screened in a large number of international film festivals around the world or aired in France and abroad. Recent examples include "Substitute" by Vikash Dhorasoo and Fred Poulet (Berlin, Forum section), "Give me your hand" by Pascal-Alex Vincent, (New Directors / New films, USA), "Sweet Evil" by Olivier Coussemacq (Kalory Vary, Best Actress Award) or “On the Shore” by Julien Donada (Moscow), “Two or Three kisses” by Claude Duty. The mission of local films has remained unchanged from inception: to foster, reveal and promote emerging arthouse talents. To achieve this goal, local films works with a small number of directors, and for typically long periods of time: François Ozon, Blandine Lenoir, Lucia Sanchez, Pascal-Alex Vincent, Paul Raoux, Jean-Gabriel Périot, Lorenzo Recio or Anna-Margarita Albelo. Originally the focus of local films was on short films and documentaries. However, as the directors we work with are gradually reaching maturity and have started creating their own feature films, local films has almost naturally shifted to the production of feature films in order to accompany the creative process. Our work with Pascal-Alex Vincent, Blandine Lenoir and Jean-Gabriel Périot are typical examples of our cooperation: having started with producing their short films, local films is now actively involved in the development and production of these directors' feature films. International co-productions also represent an increasing part of our line-up; with projects such as "MIWA, a japanese icon" with Japan, “Two or Three kisses” with Belgium, “Who’s afraid of Vagina Wolf” with the USA, "A German Youth" with Germany and Switzerland and “Shadowman” with Taiwan or “The Apostate” with Spain and Uruguay.
